At 9:30 am on December 23, 2020, the Party Branch Working Conference of the Department of Ideological and Political Education was held at meeting room 4329. Participants in the conference were Wang Shunhong, Secretary of the Univeristy CPC Committee; Liu Zhanxiang, Secretary of the CPC Committee, School of Marxism, Lin Bohai, Dean of the School of Marxism, and all faculty Party members of the Party branch of the Department. The conference was chaired by Yang Huan, the Branch Secretary of the Department of Ideological and Political Education.
In this conference, Branch Secretary Yang Huan firstly reported the summary and prospects of the branch construction work. He summarized and reported on the branch general situation, organizational construction, and leading professional construction. In terms of organizational construction, the branch took the lead in implementing the decisions of the higher-level CPC Committees, strove to build a learning-oriented Party branch, and earnestly conducted democratic life meetings; In terms of leading professional construction, the branch actively built a dual-leading (scientific research and teaching) Party branch of Party building and operation; In terms of serving professors and students, the branch actively strengthened the construction of professor’s ethics and style and the construction of the class advisor system, and actively organized students to carry out academic seminars. Looking forward to the branch construction in 2021, he hoped that Party building and operation could truly achieve double integration, double promotion, and double improvement, so as to serve the development of the School and University.
As an organizing committee member, Professor Jing Xingwei believed that if professor Party members intended to fulfill their original aspirations and missions, they needed to settle down in the work of education. As Party members from the Department of Ideological and Political Education, the professors had one-on-one exchanges with each student in study, life, and thought. This drip-irrigation education method demonstrated to the students the enthusiasm of the Party members for work, and won the praise from the students; Professor Liu Xiaoling, the propaganda committee member, said that the branch professors have maintained the tradition and style of keeping close contact with the masses, insisted on caring for students from their perspective, accompanied them to become outstanding, practiced the purpose of the Party, served students wholeheartedly, and cared for poor students. These measures had a fantastic effect on education by precepts and deeds.
Li Chunmei, Director of the Department of Ideological and Political Education, pointed out that the focus of work in 2021 was on the construction of first-class programs, and on team building, so that the Department and branch could achieve better results; Professor representative Tian Xuemei believed that Party affairs and department affairs must be deeply integrated, and they must take the lead. Additionally, the branch secretary and the department director must work closely together to complete the integration and communication between the Department and School, and Party building and scientific research; Fang Gang, a professor representative, highly acknowledged the young professors’ concern for students, which made students feel full of belonging.
After the work report was over, Secretary of the Univeristy CPC Committee Wang Shunhong fully acknowledged the gratifying achievements of the branch, praised that the branch attached great importance to the political and ideological construction, insisted on the integration of Party building work with the central work, played the active role centering on cultivation, solidly implemented the class advisor system, and made outstanding achievements in first-class program construction and talent training.
Secretary Wang Shunhong emphasized that all faculty Party branches in the University, especially the Department of Ideological and Political Education Party branch, must teach politics with a clear-cut stand; put the political construction of the branch in the first place; strengthen their consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership; stay confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics; uphold Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and uphold the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership; study and implement Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era; implement the Party’s education policy; adhere to the original aspiration and mission of educating people for the Party and the country; be a pioneer in teaching politics and loyal to the Party’s education; pay attention to theoretical study. Faculty Party members needed to take the lead to learn theory and speech, insist the principle of Reading thousands of books is the same as traveling thousands of miles, use holidays and other time to carry out extensive social practice, and go deep into all parts of the country to understand the national conditions; They had to drive the majority of ideological and political education professors to benefit students for life. The Department of Ideological and Political Education Party branch’s members and the professors should take the lead in strengthening the lofty ideals of communism and the common ideals of socialism with Chinese characteristics to do a good job of education and cultivation, and guide students to establish a scientific outlook on the world, life and values. Finally, Secretary Wang Shunhong encouraged the Department of Ideological and Political Education Party branch to adhere to higher standards and ambitions, strive to be pioneers, establish an unshakable advanced position, continue to strive for greater honors and set a glorious example among the University’s grassroots Party branches.
